I literally just took a horseback trail ride not even an hour ago and something just didn’t feel right. There were close to 20 horses on one trail with many inexperienced/finicky riders (such as myself) mounted on them. I was scared for my safety, yes — but I was scared because I KNEW these horses had to be irritated. Who wouldn’t?! I could tell before even mounting them that these horses could care less about strangers. It just didn’t seem right and I felt like I was exploiting them. Great experience because I adore horses for their beauty and regality, but I just can’t shake the feeling they don’t actually ‘like’ being ridden. Tolerate, maybe. To be ridden, not so much (in my opinion).
